Verizon FiOS is Exploding Across the Nation

Monday 20 October 2008 @ 6:31 am

Have you heard about Verizon FiOS? The Verizon FiOS network is exploding across the nation, giving consumers a better and cheaper choice when it comes to broadband Internet, VOIP phone service and digital TV. Already industry experts are saying that Verizon FiOS will revolutionize the mass communications industry and drive down the prices that customers have to pay.

After all, who wants to pay the high prices that cable and satellite companies charge and deal with all the inconveniences that comes along with satellite and cable services when they could pay less for higher quality digital TV, super fast Internet service and crystal clear VOIP technology? No one, which is why the satellite and cable companies are paying close attention to the buzz about the Verizon FiOS services.

The basis of the Verizon FiOS system is an extensive fiber optic network. Using fiber optics instead of copper wire, which is what many satellite and cable companies still use, allows for more speed, higher quality, and better picture and sound. The traditional copper wires that other companies use are like garden hoses through which information, VOIP calls, and TV shows and movie flow through. Compared to those old copper wires, the Verizon FiOS fiber optic network is like a fire hose, allowing much greater amounts of information and data to flow through faster than any other network.

Most satellite and cable companies can’t produce an Internet speed of more than 8 mega bytes per second. Verizon FiOS Internet service can produce top speeds of 30 mega bytes per second. Think about that for a minute. Verizon FiOS is more than three times faster than the fastest Internet connection that you can get with cable. And it costs about the same or less in some places than cable Internet. It’s not hard to see why the industry experts are banking on Verizon FiOS to become the next big thing in communications.

It’s not just industry experts that are praising Verizon FiOS. Customers love the clarity and sound quality of Verizon FiOS TV, the convenience of FiOS VOIP phone service and the lightning fast speed of Verizon FiOS Internet service. And because Verizon is offering a superior product for the same price or less than the satellite and cable companies those other companies are being forced to drop their prices in order to stay competitive which helps consumers all over the country.

Verizon FiOS isn’t available everywhere just yet because some parts of the extraordinary fiber optic network are still being built and in other places there are franchise agreements that need to be worked out. But Verizon FiOS already has industry experts and consumers excited about the digital TV, VOIP phone and high speed Internet services that are offered. Check to see if Verizon FiOS is available in your area. If it is, sign up now and see what all the excitement is about for yourself. If it’s not available near you yet you can sign up for email updates that will let you know when you can sign up for Verizon FiOS in your area.

Blog Tips: 8 Ways to Get People to Read Your Content!

Sunday 19 October 2008 @ 6:43 pm

The reason we all write blogs and content for our websites is because we have something that we feel is important to say, and we want to get that message out to the public and to our potential consumers. Unfortunately, as my boss has pointed out in one of his posts that only 16% of people actually read blog posts and the rest of us simply scan them for pertinent information. I have to be honest, as a reader and a writer I found this to be a shocking number and had a bit of a hard time accepting it. But, as Jeff explained to me, most of us are thrown so much information in one day that we simply don’t have enough time to read it all.

I think that’s only part of the reason though. Truthfully? There are a lot of badly written, boring posts and articles floating around on the web and most of us can’t be bothered to read them to get the information we need out of it. But, the good news is that I do believe if something is truly well written or entertaining that people will read it. Therefore, in order to get our message across, we have to make our writing more appealing to our readership. Fortunately, these few simple copywriting tips can be used to help you tighten your writing and reach further than that 16 percent.

1.) Plan Ahead

Listen, if you don’t know where you’re going with your writing, than your readers don’t stand a chance. Before you sit down and put fingers to keyboard, think about what you want to say and what the logical flow of your thoughts should be. Your writing should be orderly and have direction. If you’re looking for a great starting place, try this simple adage: Tell people what you’re going to tell them, tell them, and then tell them what you’ve told them. It’ll help lend focus to your thoughts.

2.) Know your Audience

It seems like common sense, but you’d be surprised. For example, if you know that your travel site appeals to young urban professionals, writing a blog post about retirement travel is probably not going to go over well. Think about your idea and spin it: Maybe your blog post could be about where to send your retired parents on vacation. Find a way to make your new product or service appeal to your existing audience.

3.) The K.I.S.S. Principle

In other words – Keep it Simple Stupid (Hey, don’t blame me, I didn’t invent the acronym). Did you know that most newspapers write their stories for a grade seven education level? Writing for the web shouldn’t be any different. And, while it’s great that you have a PhD in entomology, but if your readers don’t know you’re talking about bugs, you aren’t going to get your points across.

4.) N.M.A.P. (No more acronyms please)

Given the previous entry, this one is a little ironic. But here’s the thing. Just because you know what you’re talking about when you mention a BOGOFF (Buy One Get One For Free) or E&OE (Errors & Omissions Excepted); doesn’t mean that the people reading your blog do. Explain what your acronyms mean before you lose all your readers with your technical talk.

5.) Mix it up!

Sometimes copy can feel really stale and boring, but you can’t quite figure out why. It’s often due to the overuse of certain words in your copy, so take a look over what you’ve written. If you see that every sentence starts with the word ‘the’ then you need to make a change. This also applies to words in a paragraph, if you’ve described something as ‘good’ four times in the past three sentences it’s time to pick a new adjective.

6.) Use Awesome Words Sparingly

Being overly descriptive with your writing is not necessarily a good thing. If you were writing a novel, sure, there might be room for more flowery turns of phrase. Web copy though, should be more simple and direct. Don’t over illustrate what you’re trying to say, just say it, otherwise you’ll lose your readers.

7.) Text Not

It doesn’t matter how busy you are; text speak does not belong in proper copy. Take the time to write out each of the words you want to say, otherwise you’ll turn off your readers. Because, not only is text speak annoying, it can also be hard to understand, so resist the urge, kwim? (Oops!)

8.) Slash

Once you’ve finished writing your blog or article, save and close the file and walk away from it. After you’ve taken a little bit of time (20 – 30 minutes) come back to it and start editing. Your fresh eyes will help you be able to see the mistakes and the unnecessary parts more easily. And remember, if you think you’ve gotten a bit too wordy or it runs a little too long, than it probably has.

We write content for our websites or blogs because we want people to read it, but appealing to readers in the information age is easier said than done. Writing should be tight, direct and interesting to your readers. Following the above copywriting guidelines should get you on your way to improving your copy.

Four Ways to Make Money With AdSense to Make the Extra Cash

Sunday 19 October 2008 @ 11:34 am

You can make money with AdSense but with these four techniques you’ll be able to boost your revenue by leaps and bounds and arn the extra cash.

If you have or are thinking about signing up for Google AdSense, you already know the potential financial benefits of such a move. However, you may not know there are a lot of great ways to make money with AdSense. Below are four of the best ways you might want to consider to increase your cash earnings.

Create a Newsletter

If you are hosting the AdSense advertising on your own site, the goal is to increase the traffic to those pages. One of the best ways to do this is to create a newsletter that can easily be distributed to a large group of individuals who would have an interest in the keyword phrase associated with your content. The newsletter could include free articles reprinted from directory sites or you could write original content depending on your preference. You could have people subscribe to your newsletter or you could send it out through sites such as Yahoo Groups or similar networks. Remember to include plenty of links back to your web site so you can make money with AdSense in this way.

Use Email Signature

One of the easiest ways to make money with AdSense is by adding an email signature to all of your accounts. The signature should include the URL back to your AdSense web site. Now the big question is what other type of content to include along with that URL. Some people would recommend using some types of sales-related message or a brief bio. The reality is most people aren’t going to be persuaded by these obvious marketing techniques. Try to be a bit more subtle – consider using a quote (from someone famous or one of your own) instead. A humorous statement can sometimes work as well if it’s in good taste and related to the content of your site.

Send Teaser Emails

If you have a large number of email addresses that you’ve accumulated from other sites and projects or if you just want to take some of the emails from all of those forwards and unsolicited emails you’ve received over the years then you might want to put these to good use. Write a short email saying that you think the recipient would be interested in your site. Include the URL and send out the emails en masse. It’s one of the best ways to make money with AdSense and earn the extra cash.

Use Links from Sites

Another way to boost your exposure and to make money with AdSense is by using links. If you have other sites that are somewhat related, consider cross-linking between the two. For example, if you had one site about dog training and another site selling puppies, you could add links to content pages on one of the sites that link back to the other site’s pages. This way you’re going to reach a larger number of people. You can receive double benefit from all of the site marketing you have done and that’s going to give you a better value for your money.

How to Choose the Right Web Hosting Company

Sunday 19 October 2008 @ 4:36 am

Web Hosting can be difficult to understand, but it is actually the space that you buy on the Internet to host your site. Sometimes this web hosting service includes the domain name and sometimes it doesn’t. Choosing your web hosting service is the next step you take after having chosen your domain name. Most website owners choose a hosting company to host the web page because of several factors including equipment, space on server, etc.

Types of Web Hosting Companies

Generally speaking there are two types of web hosting companies. One is called web hosting on a shared server and the other is hosting on a dedicated server. The difference is the amount of space you will receive for your web site.

Web Hosting with A Dedicated Server

When you decide to host your web site on a dedicated server you get a really large amount of space in which you can store all your web site data, files, images, and information. Using a dedicated server is also a lot more secure than if you use a shared server because you are not sharing the server with any other websites, unfortunately it is expensive and not recommended if you are just starting and uploading your website for the first time.

Web Hosting with a Shared Server

This is the way most new sites choose to host their websites in the beginning. It is really economical and it is given to you at this price precisely because you share the server and the IP address with others. Unfortunately there are a few problems that come up when using this type of web hosting. As an example, the web hosting service may go down once in a while and cause your website to go off line. If any of the other users of that server does anything illegal or unethical then the other websites on that server are also thoroughly scrutinized. When a website gets too big then the server has a problem loading it or the web hosting company may contact you asking you to reduce your website size. This is why large companies and large websites prefer to use a Web hosting dedicated server.

What to Look for in a web Hosting Company?

This is not the area you want to cut costs. A bad web hosting company will cause you some serious nightmares and you will end up spending more time and more money fixing the problems they create.

Make sure you choose a reliable web hosting company. This company should guarantee that you have either a minimal or no downtime at all. Downtime means you are not online and your potential customer cannot find you. If you already have customers and you experience a lot of down time, these customers will stop coming to your site and consider you to be unreliable.

A Web Hosting Company that Offers Back Ups

The hosting company you choose should be backing up all the files regularly so that if you should ever lose any information or in the event of a server failure, your work is saved and can easily be restored.

The Number of Email Addresses

Another important factor when choosing a web hosting company is the number of emails the company offers you. You don’t want to have to pay extra for any additional email addresses you may need in the future.

Web Host Company Speed

It is very important that your web hosting company has a fast connection. If your page loads to slowly you will lose customers. Some Internet users still use dial up and if your web host company is slow then your page may not even load at all.

Customer Service is Essential

Make sure the web hosting company has good reliable and efficient customer service. It is important that you have the support you need when you need it and that they are available to help you when you have problems, so those problems get resolved quickly and efficiently and don’t cause you any major problems with your customers.

Running a Membership Website and Hosting

Sunday 19 October 2008 @ 4:31 am

Running a membership website is impossible if you do not have a hosting company that offers you the right tools to manage your website. The tools you will need must give you the ability to create forums, market, consult, develop content, UGC module creation, community development tools, recurring billing modules, and access level controls. Do not think this sums up the process of building and running a membership website. You also need to create scripts for CPanel and Eight Access camera. Fantistico, Multiple OC48Sonet fiber, data center, and did I mention that starter kits are available online.

Starter kits often have tools you need to start running a membership website and are very helpful. The control panel gives you access to disk space, bandwidth, up time, backup, contact, guarantees, set-up and more. Group levels offer you the same features as the starter kits. The only difference is you get more disc space, bandwidth and it costs a few pennies more. You can always upgrade the group membership packages. You will pay a few dollars more, but you will have more disk space, bandwidth, and so on. The Crowd and group membership websites offer you domains with FTB features. You also have access to unlimited levels. You have the support features, and MySQL, PERL, CGI, SSI, CRON, Curl, FrontPage, PHP scripting tools, Python, GD and ImageMagik, which allows you to create streaming videos and music.

E-mail is often supported by (Post Office Protocol 3) POP3. You have access to auto responders, mailing list, mail forward, web mail, Catch, Spam control, Asian, IMAP, and SMTP. The Control Panels may provide you easy access to the newest CPanel, Hotlink protection, Fantistico, IP, Deny, or management of Search Engine submittals, and current error pages. Moreover, you will likely have access to instant blog, portals, PHP, Nuke, Instant Chat, Forums, counters, FTP, and so on. Often you have password protection including of folders and PHP MY ADMIN. Tracking statistics often include raw log or other access. Error logs and analogs are provided as well.

If you plan to start running a membership website, plan to purchase the hosting packages that offer you Ecommerce features, as well as Shared SSL, Private SSL, Agora Shopping Carts, Instant OS Commerce, and Cube Carts. Running a membership website is pushing technology to continue designing topnotch web hosting companies. JOOMLA and membership hosting is currently available.

Web hosting companies today are struggling to keep up with the changes in technology. For this reason, some of the hosting tools available are difficult for many web designers to understand. However, you will find hosting companies on the market that offer easy-to-use tools. You can use these tools if you are a starter and prepared to start running a membership website.

You will also need to consider some marketing tools for your website once you get setup. You can use the Internet as a tool to find all the information you need and there’s plenty! Do not sweat because of those hasty technical words. Those words are nothing more than something you must define. Get yourself a mini technical dictionary to help you define the terms. Running from the terms will only set you back from reaching your goals. Spend a great deal of time online so that you become well versed, which will help you start running a membership website successfully.

Four Surefire Web Design Tips to SEO Friendly Pages

Sunday 19 October 2008 @ 4:04 am

Unless you’re offering a product or service on your website not available anywhere else, then you’ve got nothing to worry about because your audience will definitely stay and come back for more regardless of how you present your company. However, if you’re just like everyone else that has plenty of competition, creating a well-organized and attractive web page is extremely important not only to attract new readers, but to encourage them to stay on your site longer. If you’re new to web design and you already have the most brilliant idea in mind, here are some do’s and don’ts that you should follow to make your web design a success:

1) Always Think of Your Readers

When working on web pages, make sure that each page will work effectively on all browsers and operating systems before making them live. Creating web pages compatible to your browser and OS alone will definitely annoy your readers. If you’re going to use movies or music, give your audience a choice to view them. Many people will leave a site based on a background music that they cannot turn off while browsing the pages.

When deciding on a background color, choose a color that is easy on the eyes, so your readers can view the content with ease. Similarly, when you choose fonts to use, make sure to go for standard fonts like Verdana, Arial and Geneva. This way, you’re pretty sure that almost everyone who visits your site can view the pages without straining their eyes reading blurred fonts.

2) Choose your elements carefully

Blinking images, animated GIFs, image backgrounds, scrolling texts and pop-up windows are a “no-no” in web design because these elements not only distracts your viewers from focusing on your product or services, but also scream amateur. In addition, these elements can also slow your website down, so it’s best to avoid them as much as you can.

3) Think about Readability and Usability

Choose a simple layout that your readers can easily navigate. You should never make your pages too wide; the largest size acceptable is around 770 pixels wide. Step into your audience shoes and learn how to make the pages easier to read and use. Aim to minimize clicking because the less clicks a reader does, the more organized a web page is. Provide a home and menu on each page, so whenever the visitors feel lost, they can navigate the site from the page they’re viewing. Make the fonts large enough to read and refrain from typing in ALL CAPS and using exclamation points frequently.

4) Organize or Minimize Ads

Although placing ads on your web pages is a good way to make money, you should still think about your readers when using advertisements. As such, control the number of ads on your pages and avoid blinking, flashing and excessively large ads on your site. You can always look at other sites to get a grasp of good web designs, but as long as you follow these basic tips, produce interesting content or useful products and create web pages reader-friendly, your web site can go a long way.

Web Design Programs

Creating stunning website designs can be very costly and even time consuming. However, in recent years many web design software’s have been developed that allow novice and professionals alike to create web site designs. The majority of the design programs that are sold on the market are inexpensive and in some cases free.

How to Choose the Best Affiliate Program That Will Ensure Success

Saturday 18 October 2008 @ 11:14 pm

Once you have decided to be an Internet Marketer or an Affiliate Marketer, there are two options before you. You could either sell your own product or sell other peoples’ products and earn a commission. Selling other peoples’ products and earning a commission is the easiest and best way of getting started. Certainly you would love to choose the best affiliate program that will ensure success and reap the rewards for all the efforts you put in.

There are thousands of affiliate programs that cover a broad spectrum of products and services and unfortunately quite a number of them are scams. Hence choosing the best affiliate program requires a lot of study and research. There are various criteria you should consider before you make your decision such as:

Need for the Product:

Before choosing your product it is absolutely important that you find out whether there is a specific need, demand or interest for the product you intend promoting. What will be the retail price of the product? If it is too costly, it will be beyond the reach of most people. Furthermore if you can identify and choose an affiliate program that meets the need of a global market then you can certainly be assured of greater sales and ensure success. Another important factor that has to be considered is that if you have a website, the product or service you choose must be relevant to the theme of your website.

Quality of the product:

It goes without saying that the quality of the product has to be very good. You must first believe in the product yourself and feel confident about the product without any reservations. If you feel that the product could be a scam, then you should visit some relevant Forums and Websites that review products where you can gather excellent information to guide you in your choice.

Commission:

Commission is the life blood of your internet marketing business and much attention has to be devoted to this aspect. What commission will be paid? Is it reasonable and acceptable for your efforts? When and how will you be paid?

If there are no positive answers to these questions, then you should keep away from such affiliate programs. Sales of E-Books generally generate a commission of 30%-70% which is considered attractive by most affiliates.

Two Tier Affiliate Program:

There are certain affiliate programs that provide a two-tier system which is very attractive and popular with new affiliates. In this system other people can sign up below you as sub-affiliates and whenever a sub-affiliate makes a sale and earns a commission, you too will get a commission for that sale. Thus you earn commissions for sales generated by you directly and also by your sub-affiliates.

Tracking:

When you promote several products, it will be wise to keep track of the Hits and the Sales generated for each of your products. Good affiliate program providers give you these details which are very helpful for assessing the popularity and the need of the individual products. If you find that some products are not generating sales, stop promoting them and move on and identify new products that will help you make money.

Support and Promotional Tools:

Good affiliate programs provide their affiliates with a wide variety of tools such as banners, graphics and text links to be put on your website and other aids to help you advertise. They also provide top level support to their affiliates.

Conclusion:

It should now be obvious that the above mentioned criteria play a very important role when the time comes to choose the best affiliate program that can help you make money from home. Remaining motivated makes your journey as an internet or affiliate marketer much easier.

Looking For a Way to Make Money Online? Let me Guess, You’re TOTALLY Confused?!

Saturday 18 October 2008 @ 10:53 pm

When you’re looking to make money online there is no shortage of information…there is an absolute avalanche of information! That is the problem. It wouldn’t be so bad if the information was consistent, if everyone was whistling the same tune, but of course this is the real world, we are human and people will agree and disagree, tell the truth, blatantly lie, make you laugh, make you cry and so on!

With so many messages about how to make money online flying around and sales pitches for the latest fad and the next best thing, information overload is not a common symptom of every newbie looking to make a start in the online business world.

So what can you do when you are starting out? You don’t have years experience of testing the different ‘systems’ and ‘formulas’ that are around. I will let you into a secret….it is in-fact NOT a secret at all. Any series of steps is a system or formula, don’t buy into those packaged ‘MLM’ style systems - you know the ones, ‘get rich quick by doing absolutely nothing and I will help you do it’ type of thing!

Start like you would in the real world with your OWN online business. In other words, a profitable market, a product which answers questions/solves problems or is in demand for some other reason, and market it. These are the simple steps but there are a thousand ways you can get lost on your way.

I know, there are a whole host of things you need to learn to do this but don’t be afraid they are not as bad as they seem and a little patience can go a long way. What’s important is that you get started and get started now. The main reason people fail online is that they give up…the reason they give up? They haven’t seen results. Why? They were using the wrong ‘system’ or ‘technique’ or they tried, failed at one little part and then gave up. In short they DIDN’T SEE RESULTS! This is why if you are starting out it is important to keep motivated and the best way to do this is to set a target to make your first $100 online. This can be done by starting today, even if you don’t have a product or have no idea where to start. Affiliate marketing is a great way to promote in-demand products which other people will pay you a generous commission on in a profitable area you have an interest in or are prepared to learn more about.

I have a guide ‘Earn Your first $100 Online’ which will take you through the process step by step. Get started, see results and then progress from there. You will then possess something which puts you in the top 5% of marketers online – the belief you can do it and that it works, and you have got results!

Learning new skills is always a challenge but if you relish the idea of earning a second income online then belief, action and patience are all that is required. You don’t need a great deal of money to start, especially if you are prepared to do a little work for yourself and ‘get your hands dirty.’
